Man does not live by work alone, and as soon as I step away from the keyboard, I devote myself to playing musical instruments, folk dancing and my family.

Folklore has taken me halfway across the world, but I still like being in my native Zlín and its surroundings best.

I'm a Chernobyl-vintage kid - I spent my childhood with a Merkur construction set in one hand and a VHS tape in the other.

In my spare time I usually read interesting blogs and specialist websites, watch British sitcoms or solve crosswords. clean up after the kids

I've been into folklore since childhood, mainly the regions of Moravian Slovácko and Slovakia.

I dance in the folk ensemble Vonica from Zlín, I lead the middle group of the children's ensemble Vonička, and I keep an irregular folklore blog.

When needed, I pick up the accordion, guitar or harmonica.

I got into programming in my first year of grammar school, and I was fascinated by the internet right from the start. A friend of mine used to take me along to the computer lab, and I'd watch in awe as he fired up FTP over the school's satellite internet connection to update his own website (1998!).

Like every programmer, I gradually worked my way toward my "working" languages, PHP and TypeScript - via DOS-era FoxPro and Visual Basic 6 at a friend's place, Turbo Pascal and Delphi at grammar school, and C, Java, Prolog and Haskell at university.

I studied Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University in Brno.

I gained most of my work experience at the Brno-based company A-WebSys spol. s r.o., where I got a look at pretty much everything even remotely related to building websites: front-end and back-end programming, template coding, bulk e-mail sending, SEO optimisation, content management systems, online support, etc.

After years in Brno I moved back to my native Zlín, where I spent a year and a half at ADMIS CZ s.r.o. working on e-shop programming and hooking them up to ERP systems.

I spent a year and a quarter working at B2A, where I focused on back-end web application development, with a bit of front-end coding on the side. During that time I learned to work with technologies such as Phalcon (PHP), AngularJS, PostgreSQL, npm and leafletJS.

I spent almost seven years at the manufacturing company Dudr Tools as a programmer maintaining a production planning and control system. I extended the original system (PHP, MySQL) with additional subsystems (Angular, Node.js) while, in parallel, building a new information system from scratch (Angular, Phalcon, loopback, PostgreSQL); towards the end I was also scripting in Perl and in the proprietary language FO (the ABAS ERP system).

I currently work at Incinity as a full-stack developer (Angular, Node.js, PHP, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Cypress), and I'm happy there.

My strengths clearly include solving problems on paper - analysing the problem, drafting a detailed specification and hunting down potentially tricky spots. On the other hand, my weakness is definitely time management - if I don't enjoy the assigned work, I need someone standing over me with a whip, or even better, someone who lets me make the task enjoyable for myself. It didn't matter so much at school, but in my working life I'm trying to shake off this bad habit.
